Arrive by afternoon and refresh yourselves. In the evening, go for a village walk with a stop at a home/ farm where snacks and tea will be served. End walk at the 11th century Agnipureeswarar temple and have a chat with Suliambikai, the temple elephant.
In the morning, take a vehicle or cycle to Thirukannapuram temple, watch a potter at work, and observe craftsmen working on figurines of gods meant for the temple chariot. Return for a sumptuous lunch and rest. In the evening, visit Tiruvarur temple for a special viewing of murals dating back to the Chola period at the Devasriya Mandapam, which are not open to the general public and then witness the grand evening puja. Try paruthi paal, a milk drink made from cotton seed, which is a local favorite.
Visit the temple town of Thirukadaiyur and then make your way to Tharangambadi the ‘land of the singing waves’, also known as Tranquebar, for lunch. Explore its fascinating Danish past and heritage buildings and return to Thirupugalur in the evening.
In the morning, visit the Nagore Dargah. Walk around the streets and taste local delicacies including the famous Nagore halwa. Stopover on the way back (optional) at Thirunallar temple. In the afternoon, go to Nachiar kovil and visit its beautiful lamp shops. Finish with a visit to Darasuram for the splendid Airavateswara temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk along the bylanes near the temple and visit the home of a local weaver before returning to dinner at a farm.
Visit Mudikondan village and be part of the local theater in Peralam. Lunch at a local restaurant and in the evening visit a farm or local market to get some ingredients for a quick cooking class.
