But if you are looking for something different and away from the crowds then check out North Sumatra, a different side of Indonesia that will make you want to pick up those bags right now. Filled with rich landscapes, islands, and beautiful architecture, North Sumatra is a perfect escape for the intrepid traveller.
Arrive at Kualanamu airport and drive to Parapat. Arrive at Pematang Siantar visit Bodhisatva Avalokitesvara (Dewi Kwan In) the highest Dewi Kwan In temple in the South East of Asia with total high 22.8m a Buddhism temple. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. Passing Desa Bengkel, a food court of traditional snacks made from peanut. Tour continued to Parapat, upon arrival check in at hotel. Dinner served at local restaurant.

Visit Samosir Island, the site of the ancient Batak Toba tribe – Tomok village to see the distinctive peak roofed houses – Ambarita Village to see the Stone Court of King Siallagan – return to Parapat for lunch – proceed to Berastagi, a mountainous resort at Karo Highland regency, en route stop at Simarjarunjung, enjoying the scenic view of Lake Toba. Stop over at Tongging village to see the 120m Sipiso – piso waterfall – check in and enjoy the evening.

Visit the flower and fruit market – leave for Medan – en route visit Pagoda Replica Shwedagon Berastagi -Visit Great Mosque Medan, Maimoon Palace, Maha Vihara Matreya, Shri Mariamman Temple for the diversity of cultures in Medan – after lunch visit the Asam Kumbang Crododile Farm is the largest in Indonesia with some 2,400 reptiles where you can witness the oldest crocodile that has lived for 45 years – later visit a unique catholic church Graha Maria Annai Velangkanni a church with Indian architecture.

Visit the Tjong Afie Mansion built by a Hakka merchant in the 19th century who came to own much of the land in Medan through his plantations – Merdeka Walk to see the Balai Kota Heritage buildings (post office, lonsum building, Tirtanadi Tower) – after lunch visit Rahmat International Wildlife Museum & Gallery the only one in Asia that has ± 1000 species of animals of various countries – Vihara Gunung Timur a Chinese temple (Taoism) which is the largest in the city of Medan.
