Myanmar or Burma is a destination steeped in history and mesmerizing charm which inevitably casts an enchanting spell on anyone who visits. Its beauty and traditions will make you wish you could stay here forever. Join us and explore fascinating Myanmar.
Upon arrival in Yangon, we shall set out for some sightseeing. After seeing the colossal reclining statue of the Buddha at Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, we shall relax for a while at the lush Kandawgyi Park, before moving on to the regal Karaweik Palace. We will take in the glorious, golden Shwedagon Pagoda, before calling it a day.
Rise and shine, for today we head out to the charming village of Heho from where we drive to Inle Lake. Also known as the ‘Venice of Asia’, Inle Lake will have you stand and stare in awe at its elegant, stilted houses, lush, floating gardens, intricately detailed work by traditional artisans, and ancient techniques used by fishermen. Also included in today’s itinerary is a visit to the Nga Phe Chaung Monastery and the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, and a fun-filled boat ride on Inle Lake.
Grab some delicious early breakfast because today we shall be exploring the captivating morning market around Inle Lake where you can buy some souvenirs. It is also a place which will give you an insight into the lives of the local tribes. From there, we shall proceed towards the quaint Indein Village, which is famed for its stupa-covered hill, with 1054 stupas adorning the place. From the top of the hill, the panoramic view of the lake below is breathtaking. After a rejuvenating stroll around the village we shall move on to Mandalay.
Today our journey begins with a jetty that will take us to magnificent Mingun. Here, the massive Mingun Pagoda, decked in its ruins stands in all its glory. From there, we shall proceed to witness the gargantuan Mingun Bell, the largest intact bronze bell. Later, visit the beautiful Hsinbyume Pagoda, majestically decked in white. From there, we shall travel back to Mandalay and immerse ourselves in the rich history of the Shwenandaw Monastery, well-known for the magnificent Kuthodaw Pagoda with its elaborate and exquisite woodcarvings. Finally, we shall head up to the Mandalay Hill and soak ourselves in the warm orange light while watching the sun dip behind the mesmerizing cityscape.
New day, new plans! Today we shall drive to the ‘City of Immortality’, Amarapura. There, we shall meet some monks at the Mahagandaryone Monastery and get to know more about their lives. From there, we shall take a walk across the U Bein, which is the longest teakwood bridge in the entire world. After gorging on some great food, we shall enjoy a calming four-hour drive to Bagan, thus ending our journey for the day.
The beauty of Bagan awaits as we head out to explore the wonderful ancient city. Housing over 2000 pagodas and temples, the city is out of the ordinary. Today, we shall visit a number of shrines, which include the glorious Htilominlo, Dhammayangyi, Ananda, Thatbyinnyu, and the Sulamani. In addition to these, we shall bask in the glory of the Shwezigon Pagoda before proceeding towards the Nyaung U Market for some shopping.
This day is all about exploring the unexplored. From the landscapes and the temples which are less frequented, we shall witness the beauty that remains hidden. We shall also interact with the locals and learn more about their lifestyle in the clusters of villages that make up a large portion of Bagan.
It’s time to say our goodbyes today as the trip comes to an end. The morning is free for you to explore on your own.
