After breakfast, we shall drive to Auli, which is roughly 280 kms away.
Drive to Joshimath from where we will visit Gorson Peak, also known as Gorson Bugyal. The word “bugyal” means meadow in the local Garhwali language and that’s what you will get plenty of. Flowering alpine meadows and majestic views of Nanda Devi greet you as you make your way up the 3 odd kilometeres from Auli. With gentle slopes and nature in abundance, this is going to be an unforgettable experience. Overnight in Auli.
The pretty village of Ghangaria forms the base for the trek to the Valley of Flowers and this is where we will spend our day today. Situated on the banks of the Lakshman Ganga, Ghangaria is a tiny village that buzzes with trekkers during the summer. There is a Gurudwara in the village that is worth a look after which you can explore the little market. Overnight in Ghangaria.
Today we will venture into the Valley of Flowers and lose ourselves in the dizzying array of colours that will greet us. A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers bedazzling sights of lush valleys and hundreds of flowers in bloom that can only be seen at this time. Overnight in Ghangaria
Situated at height of 4,000 odd meters, Hemkund Sahib takes a little getting used to. It’s a short but slightly taxing climb of close 6 kms from Ghangaria. However, it’s worth the effort to see the place said to be the meditation ground for Guru Gobind Singh and the Lake of Ice that thaws only during the summer months. Overnight at Ghangaria.
Today we make our way back to Joshimath. En route we will stop at Badrinath and the picturesque Mana village, the last Indian village on the border between India and Tibet/China. Overnight at Joshimath.
Depart from Haridwar.
