As soon as you land in Guwahati, drive to Nameri National Park (5 hours), located near the scenic foothills of Arunachal Pradesh.
What can you find here?
Nameri is a great place to spot migratory birds. Look out for the rare White Winged Wood Duck, the state bird of Assam!
Your stay will be at Eco Camp tents or Jia Bhoroli cottages with basic amenities.
Go for an early morning guided nature walk for birding.

You can choose to stay another night at Nameria or travel uphill to Dirang (7 hours), a beautiful valley along the Kameng River.
Today, you can visit Dirang Dzong (fort), which is known for its unique architecture and the old monastery inside the fortified village of the Monpa tribe. Then, explore the beautiful Sangti Valley nearby which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. One can also visit the Yak Centre and fruit orchards for which Dirang is famous.
After breakfast, leave for Tawang (7 hours), which we all know you have been eagerly waiting for.On the way, visit Sela pass (4000m), Jung waterfalls and Jaswant Garh War Memorial.
Visit Tawang Gompa, which is quite simply the biggest Buddhist monastery in India. You can visit other monasteries in the area and also spend some time shopping at the Craft Centre of the Monpa tribe.
Go on a long day trip towards Bum-La pass (3 hours) near the China border where you can view the Tsongatser Lake. Come back to Tawang for the night.
After breakfast, travel downhill to Bomdila (8 hours). Later, visit the large GRL monastery of Upper Bomdila. Enjoy your stay with a local Monpa family and try their ethnic cuisine prepared from fresh organic produce from their farm.
Your stay will be in a family run guest house near the monastery.
Return to Guwahati (8 hours). On the way, visit the beautiful Chilipam monastery and Rupa village of Sherdukpen tribe in Tenga valley. Arrive by evening and check-in a comfortable family run B&B in an old residential area.
After breakfast, transfer to Guwahati airport (5 hours) for departure. End of tour.
