Tour Code: GP1
Duration : 8 days
After arrival at Lengpui Airport, you can drive down to Aizawl, which will take you about two hours. Aizawl is the capital of Mizoram.
Much of Mizoram is hill country and Aizawl is no different with the Lushai Hills surrounding it. What we suggest visiting:
After breakfast, travel eastwards to Champhai, which will take you most of the day at seven hours. Champhai is near the Burmese border and is the largest valley in Mizoram. Stay for a couple of nights in Champhai.
Today, you can just get a glimpse of our neighbour, Burma when you drive to the international border two hour away. Settle down for a beautiful lunch in a restaurant overlooking Rih Dil. You would also go the nearby Burmese village of Rikhawdar.
You can continue to explore the gentle countryside in Zokawthar. Villages you can visit include Ruantlang, Vangchia for some stone-age carvings, Zawlsei, and Khawbung where you can get lost in history. You will make the two-hour journey back to Champai.
You will make your way back to Aizwal, but on the way, stop to see the Nghah Lou Dawr shops, which are unique because there are no shopkeepers tending to them. In one of the rare examples of human honesty, Mizos take what they want, and then drop the money as per the price list.
Today, you will drive towards Thenzawl (3-4 hours), where you will spend the night. Here, you can see the Vantawng Falls and Tuirihiau Falls. You can choose to stay here for another night or make your way back to Aizwal tomorrow.
After breakfast, proceed to Lengpui Airport for onward journey. This will mark the end of your offbeat Mizoram tour.
